Welcome Message from Our Principal

Greetings and welcome to Girls Empowerment Middle School (GEMS) Las Vegas! Our school provides a safe, unique learning experience for girls in grades 6th, 7th, and 8th.  I am a previously retired administrator from the Clark County School District with over thirty years of experience in the field of leadership and education.  During my tenure as principal I was able to develop a strategic plan at Long Elementary School and moved them from a three star to a five star school.  In addition,  during my last assignment at Cunningham Elementary School, right before the pandemic started, I was able to see my school’s stars ranking move from one star to three stars and was headed in the direction of becoming a five star school.

I am excited to join the staff, students, and families in the GEMS community.  I will add my passion, experience, and expertise to enhance all the wonderful things already going on here at GEMS. I will also help to elevate the partnerships that we have with our families and community members in order to grow our school and sustain relationships.

In addition to achieving academic excellence, our main goal for GEMS is to empower our girls to become leaders who can make a difference.  We currently provide a strategic, comprehensive, research-based program to foster growth and emotional strength, as well as physical and mental well-being for all of our students.  GEMS is an advancing educational setting where changes are happening on a daily basis.  We help build social relationships so that our girls are prepared for the future.

We are pleased to offer small class sizes that help foster learning and improve instruction, while allowing students and teachers to engage in meaningful discourse.  Our staff takes pride in knowing all students on an individual basis while meeting their specific needs.  We have experienced teachers and staff who all take part in helping to make this a rewarding middle school experience which helps to prepare our students for high school, college, and real-life.  We are working on several new projects so that we can continue to grow our school and improve the learning experience for all of our students.
